The lone YouTube vlogger at Rakaposhi

It's not every day that your family is interviewed by a youtuber.

That moment came on day 3 of our trip when we were driving through the town of Gulmit to get a view of the incredible Rakaposhi mountain.

Quick fact: Rakaposhi means 'snow covered' in the local language. At an altitude of 7788 m, it's the 12th highest peak in Pakistan. And being able to view the peak from the side of a road is incredibly lucky!

We stopped at the Rakaposhi Viewpoint for some snacks and their famous 'Masala tea', which means 'spice tea'. While we were sitting, a man approached us and asked about where we were from and why we chose to come to this place. After hearing our endless reasons, he revealed himself as a YouTuber who makes shorts videos about Pakistan's tourism.

He asked if he could interview us on our experience and motivation behind coming to this area of Pakistan, to which we happily obliged. My little cousin was especially keen to become YouTube famous!

His name is Mehboob Ali. He is a very kind man who is passionate about spreading information about the land of Pakistan. He born here and lived around this area his whole life. One day he realized that YouTube and social media was the best way to distribute that information to the rest of the world.

His channel is called 'Guider Online'. I've messaged him recently but unfortunately he never uploaded the interview he took of us. But you can watch some of his other interviews and vlogs on his Youtube channel here.

This country has incredible and accessible landscapes which very few people know about. They need more people like Mehboob who interact with tourists and uses modern technology to reach travelers around the world. He is doing a really good job at marketing these remote areas of Pakistan and I wish him the best of luck for the future!
